Joey Feek's health condition may be worsening, but her husband Rory Feek revealed through another heartwarming blog post that she still has lots of things to look forward to this week.
Rory mentioned that there will be four very important events that are happening in their lives in the coming week. One of them is Valentine's Day, which he wants to be a very special moment for him and Joey.
In the post, Rory recalled that their very first date happened during Valentine's Day in 2002, when Joey invited him to join her at a celebration for the staff of the Tennessee Equine Hospital, where she was working at the time. He revealed that they had a really good time at the event, and they were engaged and married shortly after that.
Rory then said that he would love to have a romantic candle-lit dinner on Sunday, complete with red wine and rib-eyes with Joey in their farmhouse back in Tennessee. But it may not be possible since his wife's illness has left her tired and sleepy the whole time. So instead of the dinner, he would just take her on a "'virtual' walk down memory lane" by showing her their old photos and videos on his laptop.
The Joey+Rory guitarist-songwriter also mentioned that they are looking forward to see the Grammy Awards night this year, since their song "If I Needed You" is nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Since they cannot be there physically on Monday, Feb. 15, their daughters Heidi and Hopie Feek and manager Aaron Carnahan will be there to represent them.
Then Rory shared their plans for the second birthday of their daughter Indiana, which is happening on Wednesday, Feb. 17. He said that they will have a Gruffalo-themed party complete with a "Gruffalo crumble" cupcake from his mother-in-law June. They will also put streamers all over Joey's bed and place Indiana's chair near her so she can still be a part of the celebration without having to stand up.
Rory also shared how they recorded the TV special back in September 2015, before Joey's health condition began to deteriorate. He mentioned in the blog post that the recording happened in God's perfect time, because it may not have been possible if they decided to move the schedule a week later.
Joey has been receiving in-house hospice care since November 2015 in their home in Indiana after doctors told her that her cervical cancer had turned terminal. Rory and the rest of their family are trying to make her feel as comfortable as possible as she bravely faces her remaining days.
