Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) might find herself a new ally when "Marvel's Jessica Jones" season 2 returns after she encounters one of the "Luke Cage" characters in the upcoming "The Defenders" series.

GameNGuide revealed that the hard-hitting private investigator will have the support of Harlem NYPD detective Misty Knight (Simone Missick) after they meet each other in "The Defenders."

Based on a leaked image taken on the set of the upcoming Netflix superhero series, Jessica and Misty will have a rough start when they first meet each other. But rumors claim that since they are both connected with Luke Cage (Mike Colter), they could soon realize that they have something in common. This could possibly bring them closer together and eventually become allies in "Jessica Jones" season 2.

Seeing Misty Knight work together with Jessica could also help boost the show's feminist theme, especially since showrunner Melissa Rosenberg previously confirmed during the Transforming Hollywood 7 conference in late October, as reported by Variety, that the second season of "Jessica Jones" will be helmed entirely by women. Misty's appearance will bring two strong-willed and intelligent female characters on the show.

Meanwhile, Rosenberg opted not to reveal more specific details about the plot of "Marvel's Jessica Jones" season 2. Instead, the showrunner revealed that they were still in the middle of completing the scripts for the upcoming season. She also mentioned that they will begin filming the episodes for season 2 sometime next year. The show is expected to come out in 2018.

On the other hand, Jessica Jones will be seen together with Luke Cage and the other Marvel superheroes in Netflix, like the Daredevil Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) from "Iron Fist," in the upcoming cross-over miniseries "The Defenders." The eight-episode series is slated for release in 2017.
