'Iron Man 4' news: Dr. Doom to take over the Iron Man suit?

While Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. have yet to confirm if "Iron Man 4" will be in the works, speculations claim that the next person to wear the Iron Man suit may not be Tony Stark.

New speculations claim that supervillain Dr. Doom may take over the Iron Man suit, based on the concept art posted by Marvel illustrator Alex Maleev via his Twitter account.

Maleev and Marvel have yet to confirm if the concept art will translate into film. But other rumors claim that other characters might also inherit the famous red suit.

In early July, Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis sat down with Time to discuss the creation of a new character named Riri Williams. She may reportedly take over Stark's famous suit in the next installments of "Iron Man."

According to the report, Riri is a 15-year-old science genius who was admitted to MIT. She reportedly caught Stark's attention when she managed to build her own Iron Man suit inside her dorm room.

When asked about how Riri's character was conceptualized, Bendis said that he was inspired by the amount of violence and chaos that he saw on TV.

"And this story of this brilliant, young woman whose life was marred by tragedy that could have easily ended her life — just random street violence — and went off to college was very inspiring to me. I thought that was the most modern version of a superhero or superheroine story I had ever heard. And I sat with it for awhile until I had the right character and the right place," he stated.

But just like the Dr. Doom theory, there is not confirmation yet if Riri will be featured in the next "Iron Man" film.

Downey has yet to give up the Iron Man suit after filming the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie, which is set for release in 2017.
