iPhone SE 2 specs rumors: Leaked video reveals budget smartphone with iPhone X style

Amid the speculations about the next batch of iPhone devices coming this 2018, a video leak of an iPhone SE 2 unboxing has surfaced online. Apple has not yet announced that the 2016 standard edition handset will get a major hardware refresh, although the latest leak suggests that the SE 2 will use the iPhone X's all-screen display and a dual-lens rear camera.

Official render of the iPhone SE Apple website

An Apple tipster known as Macotakara shared a video that features a mysterious iPhone model that is claimed to be the iPhone SE 2. The video first circulated on Weibo, showing that the budget phone will follow the current design trend with almost non-existent bezels and a full view front display. The supposed iPhone SE 2 also does not have a home button, which likely suggests that the device will also ditch the Touch ID feature.

The iPhone SE 2 video footage also reveals a dual camera setup at the rear side of the device, which raises some eyebrows as doing so would considerably affect the cost of the handset. Knowing that Apple's iPhone SE collection is supposed to showcase the past iPhone model's primary features for a cheaper price, a dual-lens camera for the SE 2 would beat that purpose. Also, the RAM capacity of an iPhone SE is only limited, and a dual camera will bring the RAM requirement up to at least 3GB.

Perhaps the only charactertistic of the leaked iPhone SE 2 device from the video that is akin to the original SE is the boxy edges. The iPhone X has a curved display, unlike the boxy appearance sported by the rumored SE 2 handset. The phone is also protected by aluminum chassis with no glass component at the back. With this, the iPhone SE 2 is not expected to have wireless charging support.

While the iPhone SE 2 video teaser provides temporary entertainment with the lack of confirmation from Apple, 9to5Mac suspects that the device shown in the footage is fake. It is possible that the handset could be an Android device that is repackaged to make it appear like a smaller iPhone X.
