iPhone 6 Plus vs Xiaomi Mi4 specs comparison: The battle of the phablets

 Apple

The iPhone 6 Plus and the smaller iPhone 6 version are now officially released, and people all over the world are starting to line-up to get their hands on the much-awaited Apple phone. But other people opt to get a more affordable but equally functional smartphone alternative by purchasing from a Chinese tech brand known as Xiaomi.

This is the first time that the tech giant from Cupertino, California produced a large iPhone model. With its size, it can be easily compared with all the other available phablets in the market today. But how can it rate against Xiaomi's own flagship phone called the Xiaomi Mi4?

Here are the specs of the two new power phablets from Apple and Xiaomi.

iPhone 6 Plus

The iPhone 6 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch LED-lit IPS LCD display with full HD resolution and 401 ppi pixel density. As expected, it sports the new A8 processor with a speed of 1.4 GHz. It also has a dual-core Apple chipset with 2GB RAM as well as a PowerVR GX6650 GPU plus the latest iOS 8 software.

The iPhone 6 Plus also features an 8 MP rear camera with Apple's signature iSight technology as well as a full high-definition video recording capacity and a 1.2 MP front camera that can record 720p videos.

The biggest iPhone 6 model is being offered to the public in the 16 GB variant for $299, the 64 GB for $399, and the 128 GB for $499 under contract.

Xiaomi Mi4

The flagship product of Xiaomi, on the other hand, comes in a smaller 5-inch IPS LCD screen with full HD resolution and a higher pixel density of 442 ppi. The phablet features a Snapdragon 801 chipset that has a Krait 400 Quadcore processor that has a speed of 2.5 GHz. It has a bigger 3 GB RAM as well as an Adreno 330 graphics. It runs using the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system.

The Mi4 also packs an amazing 13 MP rear camera with dual LED flash and an equally impressive 8 MP front camera.

The 16 GB version costs $439 and the 32 GB version is priced at $449.

With all the specs compared, it seems that the Chinese brand offers a much better and more affordable smartphone than Apple. Still, people all over the world are excited to get their hands on an iPhone Plus, and have been waiting for it since it was first introduced last Sept. 9.
