There are still no confirmed reports about the arrival of HTC's next flagship, the U12, although the premium handset is almost overdue as its supposed predecessor was released a year ago. It is rumored that the HTC U12 will be officially announced this coming March, contrary to earlier hints that HTC might use the Mobile World Congress (MWC) stage next week to unveil its latest hardware.

The latest scoop regarding the HTC U12 release came from a tech tipster known as Ricciolo. On Twitter, he claimed that the Taiwanese telecom company is planning to launch the U11 successor in Spring, which coincides with the months of March and April. Although, the rumors are rife that the HTC U12 will come a little earlier in March, or just a few weeks after the MWC 2018.

Ricciolo has already posted a handful of leaks in the past in connection with the HTC U12, which could mean that he has firsthand information about its development. It was previously reported that the HTC U12 would be showcased at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona this week, but the lack of response from the company suggests that there will be no sighting of a new HTC flagship handset during the tech expo.

With regard to the specs and design of the HTC U12, it is believed that the next-gen smartphone will not be too different from the U11. The upcoming handset could borrow most of the design features of its predecessor that the two might become almost identical at first glance. However, the HTC U12 is expected to sport an all-screen display with thinner bezels. After all, a more immersive display by further reducing the bezels is becoming a trend in today's flagship devices. The HTC U12 could also be made of metal and glass materials.

It is also rumored that the HTC U12 will finally introduce a dual-lens camera build in the U-series flagship, which would make it more competitive and marketable as most handset makers have already focused on their devices' camera department. Lastly, the U12 could be among the first few premium handsets powered by Qualcomm's latest high-end mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 845.
