"Grace Under Fire" star Brett Butler might have to leave her comedic chops to play a mysterious role in "How To Get Away with Murder" season 3.

According to an exclusive report from TVLine, the former sitcom star will appear alongside Viola Davis and the rest of the cast of the legal drama thriller. However, details about the actress' role remain a mystery.

Since series creator Peter Nowalk revealed in a separate interview with the publication that the events of season 3 will revolve significantly in Middleton University, it can be assumed that Butler's character could be seen around the campus.

Butler was recently seen as a guest character in "The Leftovers," and she was also a part of "Anger Management" and "The Young and the Restless" in the past.

Aside from Butler, other guest characters for the upcoming season include singer-actress Mary J. Blige, "NYPD Blue" alum Esai Morales, as well as "Grey's Anatomy" alum Amy Madigan. But just like the comedienne, their roles are also being kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, the publication also revealed that the show is also looking for an actor who will portray the role of Russell, a mysterious and sexy gay man who is an acupuncturist in his thirties. But it was not clear if he will cause problems in the relationship between Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee) and Oliver Hampton (Conrad Ricamora).

ABC also released the official synopsis for the premiere episode of "How To Get Away with Murder" season 3 titled "We're Good People Now" through The Futon Critic. It stated: "With Wallace Mahoney's murder unsolved and Frank's whereabouts unknown, the 'Keating 5' struggle to move on with their lives as they enter into their second year of law school. Meanwhile, Annalise's reputation at Middleton University is on the line, so she creates a criminal law clinic where the students will compete to try their own pro bono cases. Annalise also wrestles with a decision involving Frank that could change everything."

The premiere episode of "How To Get Away with Murder" season 3 will air on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
