A new character will be introduced in the sophomore season premiere of Shonda Rhimes' "How to Get Away with Murder."

Kendrick Sampson, who is known for portraying the role of human-turned-vampire Jesse in "The Vampire Diaries," recently signed up to portray a recurring role in ABC's critically acclaimed mystery legal drama. Deadline reported that Sampson's character will first appear in the season 2 premiere. However, ABC is still mum about the role that the newcomer will play.

Meanwhile, the Entertainment Weekly claimed that the mystery surrounding Rebecca Sutter's (Katie Findlay) death that shocked viewers during the season 1 finale might be solved sooner than expected.

For the entire season 1, viewers of the show were guessing about the real killer of Lila Stangard (Megan West). While four of Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) students were covering the evidences of their crime, they  accidentally killed Sam (Tom Verica), Annalise's husband and Lila's lover, to protect Rebecca.

In the season's final episode, Rebecca's boyfriend and one of Annalise's interns Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) discovered the series of lies that Rebecca told them about the night of Lila's murder. He decided to bring Rebecca to their professor's house so he and his co-interns could force her to tell the truth and to validate if she was worthy of destroying his future and his co-interns when they decided to protect her from Sam's attack. But the viewers found out in the end that neither Rebecca nor Sam killed Lila, but Sam ordered Annalise's trusted staff Frank (Charlie Weber) to do the dirty deed for him.

Although the viewers finally learned the truth about Lila's death, another murder mystery began when Annalise and Frank discovered Rebecca lifeless in the Keatings' basement.

But unlike Lila's case, the EW exclusively reported that Rebecca's murder will be unveiled during the first episode of the season.

Was the angsty, body-pierced drug dealer killed by Frank, Annalise, or her boyfriend Wes last season? Or does Sampson's character have something to do with the crime?

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 2 will join the Shondaland block on ABC every Thursdays, beginning Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. ET.
