What a time to be alive for "Star Wars" fans as both a game and a movie has just recently been released. While both movie and game have been through some controversies, both have nevertheless provided grounds for discussion. In particular, those who played the game have watched the movie will definitely see the connection between the two different media versions of the sci-fi franchise.

It might seem obvious to assume the connection between the two as the "Battlefront II" developers, Electronic Arts (EA), have rolled out a free update, titled "The Last Jedi," after the movie. However, fans had no idea how the two were connected. Now, gamers know that the latest update actually gives some background information about the first scenes of the movie.

It can be recalled that the movie starts with the Resistance successfully taking out a Dreadnought. While taking out a ship seems straightforward, it may seem a bit odd that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and everyone else knew where to drop the bombs on. This bit of information is revealed to fans through the downloadable content (DLC) campaign of the game.

If gamers have finished the added campaign, they would find the main character, Iden Versio, stealing a plan for the First Order's dreadnought ship from their Star Destroyer. Unfortunately, she does not make it out alive but Zay, her daughter, makes it back to the Resistance sharing with Leia (Carrie Fisher) what her mother has stolen. Easily enough, anyone can assume that Leia shows this to Poe thus using it to take down the dreadnought, as per Polygon.

In this case, Zay should be at least seen in the movie, but she is not. That is because in the game, after having shared to Leia the stolen dreadnought plans, she was assigned to meet up with other Resistance members in the Outer Rim. While this conveniently moves her out of any discrepancies between the two, it also aligns to how Leia and the Resistance have definitely been looking for other Resistance members.

While this is not much information especially with the main plot of "The Last Jedi", it does show how expanded the Star Wars universe can be.
