'Homeland' season 6 spoilers and plot rumors: Peter Quinn still alive?

Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) lost another loved one in the fifth season finale of "Homeland." But is he really dead?

In the end of the 'Homeland' season 5 finale, Carrie's colleague-turned-lover Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) was seen battling for his life after suffering from brain hemorrhage caused by the harsh treatment he got under the hands of Syrian jihadists early in the season.

The doctors said that there was a small chance for Quinn to survive his current condition and he would have serious brain damage if he does survive. Because of this, Carrie decided to pull the plug and end his suffering.

But fans are not happy to see Friend's character killed off. They are still hoping that the mysterious ray of light that was seen at the end of the season 5 finale signified that Carrie was only having a bad dream and that Quinn is still alive.

Meanwhile, series executive producer Lesli Linka Glatter talked about the past season in an interview with Variety.

Glatter said the season was a little disconcerting in so many ways since some of the things that happened on the series somewhat played out in real life.

The executive producer also shared a little information about "Homeland" season 6, particularly about Carrie's possible return to the CIA.

"It'll be interesting to see where next season goes as far as that goes," Glatter, who also directs some of the show's episodes, shared. "Until we have that series of meetings, I don't know yet if Alex has any idea. But those meetings in Washington have such a big impact."

But when asked about Quinn's fate, the executive producer did not answer. She just praised Friend during his performance for the entire season, saying: "What incredible work has Rupert done this season! He's just extraordinary. I feel so lucky as a director to be working with this cast. It certainly has made me more fearless for sure."

There has been no news about the premiere of the next "Homeland" season.
