Heather Locklear's friends hope she will get 'help' after being arrested for domestic abuse

Heather Locklear was arrested Sunday night following a domestic abuse incident that took place in her California home.

According to reports, the 56-year-old actress was accused of one count of felony domestic battery and three counts of battery for allegedly attacking three responding Ventura County Sheriff's deputies. Cops were called to Locklear's residence in Thousand Oaks due to a domestic incident that involved Locklear and her boyfriend.

The Sheriff's department did not release the name of Locklear's boyfriend. They did, however, confirm that she was taken into custody after police officers found evidence supporting the claim that Locklear had caused injury to her boyfriend. Authorities went on to reveal that she was "extremely uncooperative and physically combative" with the responding deputies.

After a short hospital visit, Locklear was booked on Monday and has since been released after paying the $20,000 bail.

PEOPLE magazine notes Locklear has dealt with depression, anxiety and substance abuse in the recent years. Following her recent arrest, Locklear's friends hope she will do something to get her life back on track.

"She has to be ready to fix it herself," an insider told the media outlet, adding, "She knows help is available, she's sought it out before, but you can't force anybody to get help... It's heartbreaking."

Locklear is best known for her roles on "Melrose Place," "T.J. Hooker," "Dynasty" and "Spin City." Page Six points out that at the height of her career in acting, the TV star could be with any man she wanted. In 1986, she tied the knot with Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. Their marriage did not last long, though, as Lee's touring with his band led to their split. They separated after seven years of marriage.

She then married Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora in 1994 and welcomed their daugher Ava two years later. She filed for divorce in 2006.
