In a new clip for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," bestselling author JK Rowling took fans to the rehearsals for the upcoming play in Palace Theatre London.
The actors, including Jamie Parker (Harry), Paul Thornley (Ron) and Noma Dumezweni (Hermione), can be seen waving their wands, reciting some spells and practicing their hearts out in the clip as Rowling, director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne watched on.
Rowling, Tiffany and Thorne, who are the co-creators of the play, talk about how excited they are to see "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" come to life, with Tiffany thrilled to bits about the prospect of having an audience in just a matter of weeks.
Previews for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" are scheduled to commence on June 7. These previews, as Tiffany emphasized, will further prepare the production team as they head towards the regular showing on July 31.
"This will be such an incredible theatrical experience that I'd love us to be able to surprise people and move people, in the natural way that a story should surprise and move people," Rowling tells Tiffany and Thorne in the clip.
Rowling also highlighted how members of the "Harry Potter" fandom "really looked after each other," adding, "people have each other's backs – it's a special thing. And it's for that reason, more than any other, I would like us, if we can, to manage to keep our secrets."
As the eighth story in the series and the first one to be told as a play, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" centers on Harry's son Albus Severus Potter 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. The young wizard is burdened by the family legacy that his father and mother have built.
Harry, on the other hand, is now an "overworked employee" at Ministry of Magic with three kids. As Harry continues to struggle to put his past behind, his son Albus tries to establish a future out of his family's shadow, taking them in a gripping journey towards the truth about darkness.
