'Halo 6' release date news: successor to 'Halo 5' confirmed for PC

"Halo 5" will not be released on the PC but "Halo 6" will be. 343 Industries

As expected, "Halo 6" will indeed come to the PC, making it the first game in the popular shooter franchise to be available on the said platform. The titles before it were all Xbox One exclusives.

When asked by PC Gamer if there will be a chance or a reason that the sequel to "Halo 5" won't make it to the PC, Xbox head Phil Spencer simply answered "not at all."

Elaborating on Microsoft's decision to bring "Halo 6" to the PC, he said that it is "not about putting content only on console to manipulate Windows gamers to go buy an Xbox."

Spencer added that he knows playing in the PC will be unlike playing Xbox One. "It's a different experience from playing on PC. I'm not saying it's better or worse, it's just different," he explained.

Microsoft also plans to integrate cross-platform play by making its future releases including "Halo 6" available in both the Xbox One and PC, and also for players not to buy a game and its digital content twice for the separate platforms.

Xbox senior manager Tom Langan told Attack of the Fanboy that "Halo 6" and all other games starting with the action-adventure video game "ReCore" won't be Xbox One exclusives.

They will be available to play via Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows players to buy a game for PC and then load or play it back on Xbox One and vice versa.

Langan emphasized that headed to PC are "all the future titles in our roadmap, so everything you saw in our show, and all the way out including things you didn't see at the show, like Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves."

Those who weren't happy about Microsoft's decision not bring the full "Halo 5" game will be happy to know that "Halo 6" is indeed PC-bound along with the rest of the titles that will otherwise be Xbox One exclusives.

"Halo 6" was rumored for an 2018 release, but Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement.
