'Halo 5: Guardians' update: Microsoft previews Warzone Firefight multiplayer mode gameplay

A glimpse of the much-awaited Warzone Firefight multiplayer for "Halo 5: Guardians" was released by Microsoft and 343 Industries at the recently concluded Halo World Championship Finals 2016.

As fans would have already guessed, Warzone Firefight is the sprawling and more intimidating hybrid of the game's Warzone multiplayer and the ever-popular Firefight mode from "Halo 3: ODST."

Warzone Firefight is an "ambitious" extension of the game's existing Warzone multiplayer. It doubles the latter's already mammoth maps and battles, making the multiplayer the "biggest Halo cooperative experience ever in franchise history."

In Warzone Firefight, up to eight "Halo 5: Guardians" players can band together to take on five rounds of missions with time pressure that become more difficult to conquer as they progress.

There are dynamic objectives to complete in Warzone Firefight and Microsoft guarantees "you can play thousands of matches before seeing the same objective combination."

Warzone Firefight boasts the largest number of enemies in the history of the "Halo" franchise. That being said, players will be up against loads more baddies like a "horde of angry Grunts" and a new tier of what Microsoft described as "Mythic" enemy bosses.

Microsoft and 343 Industries are keeping the REQ system in the new multiplayer mode for the ultimate gaming experience. After all, with dangerous kinds of adversaries attacking from all sides, players will need all the armory and equipment they can get.

This means that in tackling these new breeds of opponents in Warzone Firefight, "Halo 5: Guardians" players can make use of all the weapons, vehicles, power-ups and armor mods they have. These include a Scourge of Fire Plasma Caster and a Phaeton.

The Warzone Firefight multiplayer mode for "Halo 5: Guardians" will be out this summer. There's no exact release date yet, although Microsoft is continuously polishing it prior to its much-awaited release.
