'Halo 5: Guardians' update: Major eSports event, special edition bundle revealed by Microsoft at Gamescom 2015

Hardcore video game players would definitely love Microsoft's plans for the newest installment in the "Halo" franchise. During the Xbox Briefing hosted by Microsoft Tuesday, the tech giant revealed that they will be conducting the first-ever "Halo World Championship" competition to back the upcoming release of "Halo 5: Guardians."

Game developer 343 Industries executive producer Josh Holmes broke the announcement during the 2015 Gamescom briefing, saying: "The Halo series has always been synonymous with console eSports and online competition. With Halo 5: Guardians we are fully embracing that legacy with the announcement of the inaugural Halo World Championship, which launches later this year, featuring over $1 million dollars in prizing."

Aside from the planned worldwide eSports event, the game developer also unveiled a new trailer showing the added features of the upcoming game. Based on the trailer, "Halo 5: Guardians" will have a T rating to suit the younger markets. It will also have two major multiplayer game modes called the Warzone and the Arena.

The Warzone game mode will feature the usual Halo multiplayer mode were the Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, as well as other typical modes can be staged. On the other hand, the Warzone allows players to use all types of vehicles because of its larger map.

Meanwhile, 343 Industries announced that they are planning to incorporate campaign co-op in single-player mode.

"While you can still expect the same great single-player experience that Halo campaigns have been known for, engaging in co-operative play gives the campaign a new level of depth and richness," Holmes announced.

Microsoft and 343 Industries also discussed the new "Halo 5: Guardians" limited edition premium bundle. The special edition Xbox One console will reportedly have a 1 TB hard drive with new hardware and accessories to match the "Halo 5: Guardians"-designed console and controller.

The bundle consists of the highly-anticipated "Halo 5: Guardians" game, 14 premium Requisition Packs, a multiplayer emblem, FOTUS-class armor, a new Guardian model, the "Halo: The Fall of Reach" series, as well as dossiers for the two teams and Locke's classified orders.
