The new PlayStation Experience 2017 (PSX 2017) had a lot of surprises featuring new games and remakes of the classics. One of the new games featured was the action game "Guacamelee! 2." A gameplay footage of the game even features a new Chicken Pope.

Players play the hero of the first installment, Juan, who finds a new threat in this second game. However, he is no longer alone. The trailer that was shown during the PSX 2017 and is now on YouTube features a chicken which is actually playable. The 17-minute trailer discussed a lot of content regarding the new game, especially the chicken.

The chicken, apparently, was designed to be for speedruns for those who have already finished the game, as per Comicbook. Players can switch easily between the two characters in between levels to make things easier for the players to progress. What makes it interesting and fun is the chicken's interactions as he makes the usual chicken sounds. Given the context of game's intensity, using the chicken would offer some comic relief.

"Guacamelee! 2" was first revealed during the Paris Games Week last October, although not as much was shown back then. There were already some snippets of the chicken pope in action, but it was not quite clear to fans. It did, however, make them look forward to the future updates of the game.

The second installment of the game's franchise is set seven years after the first "Guacamelee!" game. "Guacamelee! 2" even starts with Juan, his wife, Lupita, who fans know from the first game, and the family they have made. The first game was released back in 2013 for the PS3 and PS Vita and was later ported to PC.

As for "Guacamelee! 2", the game is set to be released next year, although no specific date was mentioned. It will be made available for the PS4. They also have yet to announce if they will be releasing the game for other consoles.
