Ben's career will be on the line and so will the lives of a mother and her unborn baby in the upcoming back-to-back episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12.
In the show's exciting two-hour event this week, "Grey's Anatomy" season 12, episode 18 and 19 will be aired one after the other. The first one is titled "There's a Fine, Fine Line," and it sees the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital on a lockdown after a child goes missing.
As the emergency protocol took shape, Ben was trapped in the hallway, unable to collect the equipment needed to operate on his pregnant patient. This pushes him to perform the emergency C-section procedure right then and there without the proper tools.
What he did seems to have worsened the patient and her baby's condition. In the sneak peek for "Grey's Anatomy" season 12, episode 18, Alex takes over while Ben explains that he only did what he could at that moment to save the mother and child.
"You gotta understand. I would've lost them both," Ben defends in the "Grey's Anatomy" sneak peek."Now we might anyway," Alex replies.
"Grey's Anatomy" fans know that this case with Ben isn't unprecedented. Earlier in the season, he did the same thing, but at that time it was on a patient in the psych ward. This pushes Bailey to re-evaluate Ben's position in the hospital.
In "Grey's Anatomy" season 12, episode 19, titled "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)," the Chief of Surgery will put together an advisory committee to decide what necessary actions to take regarding Ben's case.
By the end of the "Grey's Anatomy" two-hour event, fans will know Bailey's verdict and Ben's fate in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
