'Gotham' season 3 spoilers: Jerome, new villains to cause destruction in Gotham City next season?

Will Jerome finally transform into The Joker in Gotham season 3? Fox TV

More than a week has passed since the second season finale of "Gotham" was aired by Fox, but fans are still talking about the scene where the possible villains of season 3 flashed on the screen.

In the episode titled "Wrath of the Villains: Transference," the evil creations of Dr. Strange (B.D. Wong) were released into the world. They include a thick-haired woman, a man with an alien-like appearance, someone who looks like Bane, and another man who has similar features to Bruce Wayne.

Executive producer John Stephens revealed the list of villains that Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) will encounter next season in an interview with Comic Book Resources.

"We'll be seeing Mad Hatter in Season 3. We'll be seeing the Tweedle Brothers, too, if we're going to bring the Hatter in. In line with the Court of Owls, we'll be seeing Talon. And, we should be seeing Solomon Grundy," Stephens said.

But aside from the names mentioned by the show's executive producer, fans are also looking forward to confirm if the menacing laugh heard towards the second season finale really belonged to Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), who is believed to be Batman's greatest nemesis The Joker.

Jerome was killed by Theo Galavan (James Frain) in season 2 after the former killed Gotham's Deputy Mayor Harrison Kane (Norm Lewis) during the hostage crisis at the Gotham Children's Hospital Gala event. But Jerome's death will not remain permanent, since Dr. Strange brought him back to life in his mysterious Indian Hill facility.

It seems like Gordon is already prepared to take down all the upcoming individuals who will cause destruction in Gotham City. In an interview with Indie Wire, McKenzie revealed that "Gordon is capable of doing even worse than killing Theo Galavan in cold blood."

"Gotham" season 3 is expected to return to Fox this fall.
