After speculations about Vicki Vale's appearance in the third season of "Gotham" came out in May, new reports confirmed that the female journalist will soon appear in Bruce Wayne's world when the series returns on FOX this fall.

TVLine first talked about the possibility of having Vicki Vale in the story in May, when the publication said that the series is looking for an actress who will portray the role of a young, ambitious journalist who will be called Valerie. The report speculated that the name was a code used for the female DC Comics character who was ranked as the 93rd among the 100 Sexiest Women in Comics list of Buyer's Guide.

The publication then confirmed the speculation in a new report, saying that their earlier prediction turned out to be true.

Screen Rant reported that Vicki Vale was first introduced in DC Comics' "Batman #49" back in 1948 through her debut story "Scoop of the Century" by comic book writer Bill Finger She was described as a strong, smart, and beautiful woman who believes that Bruce Wayne and Batman are the same person.

While the character had already appeared in the movies as portrayed by Jane Adams and Kim Basinger, this will be Vicki Vale's first venture into a TV series. However, the network has yet to announce the name of the actress who will give life to the role for "Gotham" season 3.

Meanwhile, the network is also looking for two other new cast members for the show, including a villain who sounds a lot like The Mad Hatter because he "learns people's secrets and manipulates them to do his bidding," as well as a young female nemesis "who uses her sexuality to entrap men" just like the character named Siren from the "Batman" series back in the 1960s.

FOX is expected to make the announcement about the casting call for the said characters in the coming days.
