GoPro Karma release date news: Drone still on track for late 2016 release

While GoPro has revealed that there may be some delay issues for its Karma drone, the new product together with the Hero 5 is still on track for release this year.

According to Reuters, a conference call from GoPro reveals that its new products such as the GoPro Karma drone and the Hero 5 action cam are still slated for a 2016 release. Meanwhile, although a specific release date has not been confirmed, it is expected that the new product lineups may possibly come out before the holidays. The industry follower also stated that GoPro believes in a sequential growth in operating expenses for the second half of the year, and this may be due to anticipating the new product releases.

The holiday 2016 release of the GoPro Karma drone is already its second release period, since it is originally scheduled to roll out earlier this year.

Meanwhile, GoPro has to keep the new release date on track, since having new product lineups such as the first-ever company drone and an action cam follow-up in the GoPro Hero 5 will definitely help in stabilizing sales figures. Reportedly, GoPro's numbers are on a slump, plunging into 47.4 percent for its current quarterly revenue. For the second quarter ending in June, revenues fell to $220.8 million, a contrast against 2015's posted figure of $419.9 million in the same quarter period.

Having the GoPro Karma release in time for the holiday will give definite boost for GoPro, and development for the drone seems to be doing well. According to Mashable, the new GoPro drone may have already been teased, though only eagle-eyed fans will have to see it. In the trailer release for the movie "The Secret Life of Pets," footage of a drone with what seems to be a GoPro Hero action cam is seen hovering in the sky.
