It looks like Eli Gold's future will have a lot of excitement in the upcoming episodes of "The Good Wife" season 7.

Alan Cumming, the critically-acclaimed actor who portrays the role of Eli — Peter Florrick's (Chris Noth) campaign strategist and chief of staff — recently discussed his character's fate in the next season of CBS's multi-awarded legal drama. In an interview posted on Deadline, the actor revealed that Eli will have a lot of tasks to do for Peter after the latter announced that he will be running for the presidency, but Cumming still thinks that it will be a lot of fun.

"Eli's head explodes in Season 7," Cumming said, "but not in the way you all may think. The episodes we've shot so far are the most fun I've had playing him in all seven seasons."

The Scottish actor also said that viewers will see an old Eli trait that he does whenever he needs to get a job done, which has been missing for several seasons already.

Meanwhile, E! News recently mentioned that Peter will hire another campaign staff member named Ruth Eastman (Margo Martindale) to help him in his quest to become the next U.S. president. Will the new staff get into Eli's nerves?

Also, the report shared a series of official photos taken from the pilot episode of "The Good Wife" season 7 titled "Grunts." The photographs shows the new characters in the political/ legal drama, including the newest regular cast member Cush Jumbo who will portray the role of lawyer Lucca Quinn. Quinn is the new opponent of Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) in getting new clients who are filing to post bail in bond courts for their release.

Aside from the two new characters, several recurring characters will also appear in the upcoming season, including Michael J. Fox as Louis Canning, Jerry Adler as Howard Lyman, Mo Rocca as Ted Willougby, and Mackenzie Vega as Grace Florrick.

"The Good Wife" season 7 returns on Sunday, Oct. 4, on CBS.
