Tactical role-playing game (RPG) "Fire Emblem Heroes" celebrated its first anniversary on Feb. 1, and to celebrate, a new event, new items, and challenges were released in-game.

The event began on Feb. 1, with players of the game receiving 50 orbs upon logging in. Daily maps were also added to the mix, and players who completed their tasks for the day ended up receiving 50 more orbs. Players could opt to either complete the challenges in normal mode or hard mode.

According to reports, these are not the only new maps and challenges released to celebrate the game's first anniversary. A developer challenge map, grand hero battles, and special training maps have also been released. Experience points and rewards will also double during the event, meaning players who are most active during the anniversary celebration will get a chance not only to earn more in-game currency and rare items but also level up faster.

In-game items aside, according to further reports, the game will feature brand-new modes for players to try. Titled Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon, it adds a music-based rhythm game mode to a game known for its tactical combat and role playing. In Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon, players battle by tapping on enemies. However, it does not end there. Staying true to the rhythm game genre, players must tap on enemies in time to the music's beat. Set in a 100-floor dungeon, players must master the "Fire Emblem Heroes" soundtrack and make it to the very top floor to receive a prize.

While the "Fire Emblem Heroes" first anniversary celebration has already begun, the Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon will not be opening its doors to players until Feb. 8, and the event will last until Feb. 28, giving players 20 days to make it to the very top and claim the mysterious reward.

"Fire Emblem Heroes" was released on both the Apple app store and Google play store in 2017.
