The new "Final Fantasy XV" cinematic trailer was launched at this year's Gamescom event.

Dubbed as "Dawn," the trailer was released worldwide on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 8 a.m. CEST (Aug. 4 at 11 p.m. PST). This is Square Enix's opening feature for the Gamescom festivities in Cologne, Germany this week. The game studio earlier announced that "Final Fantasy XV" will have a major presence at the convention, having been noticeably absent during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 held in June.

A teaser, shown earlier via Tweeter, features a dog sniffing the iconic automobile, as well as two unrecognizable characters who seem to be snuggling beside a parked car. The trailer reveals the two characters as the king of Lucis and his son, a scene from 15 years ago.

The trailer says, "Now, the son rises — the dawn of a new king."

Based on earlier game descriptions, the 15th main installment in the "Final Fantasy" game franchise is set in a world that almost looks the same as modern-day Earth, where hostilities between all nations are taking place to get major control of the world's crystals. However, the war consumed all of the crystals except for the nation of Lucis, which turned the nation into a technologically-advanced society while the rest degenerated into medieval nations. Because of this, the nation of Niflheim plotted to invade Lucis while in the middle of the final peace negotiations between the two of them to steal the remaining crystal.

The fate of Lucis now lies in the hands of its Crown Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum, who got hold of a magical power which allows him to foresee someone's death after he had a near-death experience during his childhood. Together with his friends Gladiolus Amicitia, Ignis Stupeo Scientia, and Cor Leonis, Noctis will do everything to protect his nation and prevent Niflheim from exploiting the crystal.

Aside from the release of the full trailer of "Final Fantasy XV," Square Enix is also expected to reveal more details about the third-person action role-playing shooter game at the Gamescom 2015, ongoing until Aug. 9.
