'Final Fantasy VII': HD version coming to PS4 in Spring 2015

The highly anticipated PlayStation 4 release of "Final Fantasy VII" is finally coming in Spring 2015, but it will not come as expected.

For the longest time, players have been clamoring for a full-on high definition digital remastered version of the game, but recent reports say that the soon-to-be released "Final Fantasy VII" PlayStation 4 version will just be a port of the earlier PC version that was released back in 2012.

According to Cinema Blend, the upcoming PS4 version of the classic PC game will allegedly hand out Trophies to players to serve as their incentive so that they will be inspired to play the game continuously. The Trophies could also act as a Character Booster, which could let players increase their money points and hit points, and it could instantly increase the player's money.

The announcement came from Shinji Hashimoto, the producer from Square Enix, during his keynote speech at the PlayStation Experience 2014 on Dec. 6.

However, the game could be the very same game that was released several years ago.

Square Enix director Yoshinori Kitase had mentioned before that a real HD remake of "Final Fantasy 7," complete with new features, may possibly happen. Yet he admitted that making a new "Final Fantasy VII" remake can be very costly for their part. According to the director, coming up with a remake that will feature improved visuals may take a longer time compared to making a new game like "Final Fantasy 13," which lasted for five years.

"If I may speak as a game creator, if we were to produce a remake of VII, for example, I would be really tempted to delete things and add new elements, new systems or whatever because if we were to make exactly the same thing now, it'd be like a repeat," Kitase predicted.

The pricing and other release date details for the remastered "Final Fantasy VII" for PS4 is still undisclosed as of the moment.
