'Fast and Furious 8' news: Paul Walker to be 'represented' in the next film

Paul Walker's presence will still be felt in "Fast and Furious 8," NBC Universal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer has revealed.

In an interview Variety, Meyer shared that the actor, who passed away in a tragic car accident in Santa Clarita, CA in 2013, will be featured in the eighth installment of the blockbuster "The Fast and the Furious" franchise.

"Paul won't be in it, but he'll be represented in some form or another but whether his image is in it, I can't tell you yet, but he won't be in the film as a performer, as an actor, the way we did it last time," Meyer said.

Walker was last seen in "Furious 7," which was still in the middle of production during the time of his sudden passing. He managed to shoot some of his scenes as former FBI agent Brian O'Conner for the film before the accident. His younger brothers Cody and Caleb Walker were hired as his stand-ins to continue shooting the rest of his scenes with the help of CGI.

The chances of having a representation of Walker's character in the upcoming film become possible because the creators of the film decided to have him retire from the criminal life instead of killing him in the movie.

Meanwhile, Walker's co-star and friend Vin Diesel revealed that he could still envision more "The Fast and the Furious" films after the eighth installment. Executives from Universal Studios also hinted that there could still be a chance to extend the franchise beyond that.

"Vin has a vision in his mind for three more, so let's get three more done and then see where we are from there," Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Jeff Shell shared.

"Everything has an end, so I don't think our expectation is we're going to have a hundred of them...To me 'Fast and Furious' has become no different than a beloved series that comes on every year."

"Fast and Furious 8" is slated to premiere on April 14, 2017, and it will be helmed by "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray.
