Those that want to get themselves lost in 1950s American culture should clear up their schedules for this upcoming weekend because Bethesda is making "Fallout 4" free to play from Feb. 1 to Feb. 4 on the PC. In addition to that, the game itself and all its expansion packs and downloadable content (DLC) will be on sale at a discounted price at the same time.
Announced on Bethesda's official website, the studio is offering anyone who has not had a chance to try out the latest entry in the post-apocalyptic role-playing game (RPG) an opportunity to explore the lands of 23rd-century Boston and see if the game is for them. This trial will run from Feb. 1 to Feb. 4 and is exclusive to PC players only.
In addition to that, "Fallout 4" and all its expansions will be on sale during the weekend. The original base game will have a 33 percent discount while the Game of the Year edition and all the individual expansion packs will be at 40 percent. Finally, the Season Pass will be sold at half its usual price.
And should players find themselves enamored with the game, purchasing it during the weekend will allow them to keep their save file and any progress they made within the four-day window.
As the name implies, "Fallout 4" is the fourth entry in the long-running "Fallout" franchise that takes place hundreds of years after a nuclear fallout occurred in the 1950s. In it, players take on the role of a man or woman who had just awoken from cryostasis in order to rescue their kidnapped child and avenge their murdered spouse.
First released in 2015, "Fallout 4" was met with a generally positive reception, scoring an average of 84 percent on Metacritic out of 38 reviews. Unfortunately, user reception was a lot more negative and controversial mainly due to the number of bugs and poor optimization that the game launched with on the PC.
