"Fallout 4" fans are still hopeful that a new expansion pack will arrive soon, that is why the planned "Fallout 3: Capital Wasteland" remake within the game was well-received. The mod team behind the much-awaited content has been vocal about the project's status, although recently, the fans received the worst kind of news from the team as the production is officially cancelled.

As reported by USGamer, the development team to lead the "Fallout 3: Capital Wasteland" remake project, Road to Liberty, cited legal issues as the basis for the production being terminated. The "Capital Wasteland" project was supposed to introduce most of the "Fallout 3" storyline and contents into "Fallout 4," which the players thought would be a nice crossover in the game series.

Unfortunately, after further discussions between Road to Liberty and Bethesda, which serves as the project's head, it was then realized that the "Capital Wasteland" remake is not going to be legal.

It appears that a legal battle would surface if Bethesda and Road to Liberty chose to proceed with the "Fallout 3: Capital Wasteland" remake project. The characters from "Fallout 3" used the voices of known personalities such as Eric Todd Dellums, Ron Perlman, Malcom McDowell and Liam Neeson. Road to Liberty proposes to re-record lines of the characters for the project without the need of signing up the actors, something that is perceived as a red flag.

Road to Liberty made the announcement on Twitter, highlighting that the team values its connection with Bethesda Game Studios, and it will not do any actions to put the studio in bad light.

"With a heavy heart, I must announce that at this moment the Capital Wasteland project is no longer in development, there are more details on our discord, but I wanted to let everybody who's been so gracious to follow and support us know," Road to Liberty stated.
