'Enchanted 2' news: 'Disenchanted' will feature more musical numbers

The sequel for "Enchanted," titled "Disenchanted" will feature more musical numbers according to director Adam Shankman.

In an exclusive interview with Collider on Mar. 7, Shankman opened up about the status of the upcoming film. He said that the team is turning in the script soon and that he has already been in touch with Amy Adams and the cast. He hinted that the sequel will tackle what exactly does a happily ever after entails. When asked why the upcoming film has been in-development for a long time, he said that Disney ensures that everything they needed is complete before they proceed to production.

As mentioned earlier, Shankman promised there will be more singing and dancing planned for the upcoming sequel as compared with the first movie. He said that all of the music that will be used in "Disenchanted" is original and that Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will be coming back to do the film's soundtracks.

Cinemablend thinks the reason for more musical numbers may be due to what happened in the ending of "Enchanted." Giselle (Adams) and Nancy Tremaine (Idina Menzel) have switched places with the latter joining Prince Edward (James Marsden) in Andalusia. Cinemablend thinks the sequel will give an opportunity to Mendzel to showcase her talent in singing which was not able to do in the first film. The site thinks that Giselle, on the other hand, will be adjusting to the life in the real world alongside performing her role as the mother of Robert Philip's (Patrick Dempsey) daughter, Morgan (Rachel Covey).

Following the news that "Enchanted 2" has been in-development, many fans are wondering what the story of the upcoming film will be. The Independent reported in January that the upcoming "Enchanted" sequel is set ten years later.

Disney has yet to release an official statement regarding the plot of "Disenchanted."
