The U.K. audience of "Downton Abbey" will finally see the sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed period drama in just a few weeks, but the excitement has already been built up all over the world because of the recently released trailer for the TV show.

Masterpiece unveiled the latest promo video for "Downton Abbey" season 6 early this week, and it shows that the Crawley family and the rest of their household staff are heading toward major changes in their lives. The residents of Downton Abbey are all going to turn over a new leaf.

The latest trailer shows the Crawleys' resident butler Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) and his now fiancée Mrs. Hughes (Phyliss Logan) talking to each other. The estate's head housekeeper asks the family butler to simply call her by her first name, Elsie. But the very conservative butler refuses, telling her that he will never do that while they are serving inside the estate.

Yet the possibility of not working for the Crawleys is already looming for the newly engaged couple. The trailer hints at that when Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) tells Mr. Carson that he might no longer need to have an "under butler."

Meanwhile, Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) is also seen in the trailer sporting a new hairstyle. She seems to have a new opportunity to move to London. When she is asked if she wants to begin a new life outside her family's lavish estate, the unmarried single mother curtly replies, "The fact is, I'd like a life!"

But it also appears that a huge change is about to happen for Lord Grantham's family and household, based on the sale of some of the estate's lavish paintings. Does this mean that the Crawleys will move out of Downton Abbey to move to a smaller place?

However, some things seem to remain the same in the new season of "Downton Abbey." Based on the trailer, the Countess Dowager (Maggie Smith) continues to bicker with Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton).

"Downton Abbey" season 6 premieres in the U.K. on Sunday, Sept. 20, on ITV, while the U.S. premiere will air on Jan. 3 via PBS.
