The open beta for "Doom" has officially commenced. Players from all platforms (may it be on the PS4, Xbox One or Steam) can jump in until April 17 to try out the upcoming first-person shooter.

In the open beta, players can play as the demon Revenant and can also explore two maps in "Doom," Heatwave and Infernal, and both sound piping hot and dangerous. There are two game modes to run through as well.

The first one is called Team Deathmatch, where two teams of six battle it all out for frags, which are a point system in "Doom" earned by players who manage to kill an opponent.

The other mode players can try out during the "Doom" open beta is the Warpath, a revamped version of the King of the Hill mode. Here, "players have to decide where they want to be" and are pushed to move and think fast.

They can either turn themselves into a Marine-destroying Demon by rushing to the power-up moving around the map (here they can "defend or steal control") or they can simply wander around and tackle enemies they meet as they go.

To be able to withstand all those, "Doom" open beta participants are given access to a set of weapons and necessary equipment. At their disposal are the lightning gun, rocket launcher, super shotgun, static rifle, plasma rifle, vortex rifle and heavy assault rifle.

"Doom" open beta also has the Gauss Cannon power weapon available as well as a frag and siphon grenade and a personal teleporter. The beta also packs "never-before-seen armor sets, taunts, and hack modules."

As for PC users who have questions on the framerate of "Doom" in the open beta, Bethesda clarified via Twitter that the framerate was locked at 60fps "for beta purposes only" and that the FPS will be unlocked when the game finally releases.

The "Doom" open beta ends Monday, April 17. The game won't be available until May 10. Register in the beta here.
