Jenna Coleman may have left her role as Clara Oswald after the ninth season of "Doctor Who" last year, but co-star Peter Capaldi teased that she could have a surprise appearance when the series returns for season 10.
During the recently concluded Awesome Con in Washington D.C. over the weekend, Capaldi seemed to have let it slip that fans could have a glimpse of Clara next season.
"I'm not sure how successfully Clara was able to wipe his mind. I just did ... I was about to tell you something I can't tell you," the 58-year-old actor said. "I just shot something that Clara was still there in," he added at the press panel, as reported by Radio Times.
But while the actor did not particularly confirm that Coleman will still appear next season, fans believe that the actress could possibly reprise her role as the Time Lord's trusted companion despite being pulled out of time by the end of season 9.
However, Capaldi's statement about shooting a scene with Clara in it could be for the new "Doctor Who" spin-off called "Class," since the series will take place at the school where Clara was a teacher. According to Tech Times, the events in the scene would possibly take place before Clara died.
In other news, showrunner Steven Moffat talked about returning to the writers' room to pen the scripts for season 10.
"Feels odd to be talking about leaving when I'm just starting work on the scripts for season 10, but the fact is my timey-wimey is running out," Moffat said in a report from Express UK.
This will also be the last time that he will act as the showrunner for the long-running British sci-fi drama, since he will relinquish the role to Chris Chibnall after the upcoming season.
"While Chris is doing his last run of Broadchurch, I'll be finishing up on the best job in the universe and keeping the Tardis warm for him, Moffat added."
Production for "Doctor Who" season 10 is scheduled to begin in two weeks, but the series is not set to return to BBC until 2017.
