The latest entry in the "Final Fantasy" franchise is here — Square Enix and Koei Tecmo's "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" is now available on PlayStation 4.

"Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" has been out in Japanese arcades since 2015 and has not had an English nor a worldwide release on any device, until now. The series continues with the platform of its predecessors "Dissidia Final Fantasy" and "Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy" on PlayStation Portable, and much of the mechanics were retained, including character classes and the game's "energy" or "super" meter called "bravery."

The action-packed trailer was also released in conjunction with the game itself, and it features many fan favorites from all the past "Final Fantasy" titles, including Lightning from "Final Fantasy XV" which was not originally available in the Japanese arcade version.

The "Dissidia" series is the fighting game series spin-off of the original "Final Fantasy" franchise by Square Enix. Square Enix developed the previous two titles independently, with the special Square Enix First Production Department handling the development of the second title "Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy."

The third and current release in the series, "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT," is in partnership with Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja, the esteemed developers of the fighting series "Dead or Alive." This brings in a new feel and perspective to the game, along with optimized battle mechanics.

Reviews for the game are currently scarce, given that it has only been two days since its release, as of the time of writing, although the reviews that are available have been mostly positive.

Unlike the traditional one versus one fighting mode, players fight in three versus three matches. Traditional fighting game aspects are present by way of special moves, combinations and super moves. The game makes use of the growing three-dimensional movement platform most fighting games today have adapted to. "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" includes a story mode that players have to unlock by fighting in the arcade mode.

"Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" was released on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and is currently available on PlayStation 4.
