'Disney Infinity 3.0' updates: 'Kingdom Hearts' keyblade to be 'ultimate unlock'

In the recently concluded D23 Expo last weekend, Disney Interactive unveiled some of the new features of "Disney Infinity 3.0" before it comes out later this month. The soon-to-be released title is the third installment in the action-adventure toys-to-life video game series.

One of the newly announced inclusions in the game is the "ultimate unlock" item that can be unlocked once the player becomes the owner of every single figure for the upcoming game. The upcoming ultimate unlock will appeal mostly to fans of the "Kingdom Hearts" series, since it will come in the form of Sora's keyblade.

The other ultimate unlocks that were featured in the previous titles were the lightsaber owned by Luke Skywalker in "Disney Infinity," while his landspeeder was the ultimate unlock for the "Disney Infinity 2.0."

Aside from the "Kingdom Hearts"-inspired ultimate unlock, Disney also handed out a special power disc to those who were fortunate enough to be present during the event. The said power disc, which will unlock the exclusive "Kingdom Hearts" outfit of Mickey Mouse in the upcoming game, will not be available in retail stores, meaning only those who were in Anaheim, California during Disney's annual fan convention are the only ones who have the said item.

Also, "Disney Infinity's" vice president of production John Vignocchi and Avalanche Software CEO John Blackburn talked about the other new features of the upcoming toys-to-life installment after the trailers for the "Twilight of the Republic" and "Rise Against The Empire" playsets were shown. They both revealed that a new playset based on Marvel Comics called "Marvel Battlegrounds" will be released sometime next spring. This particular playset will be the first one that would allow up to four players at the same time.

They also announced some of the latest inclusions in the "Disney Infinity 3.0" Single Character Packs, including Ultron and Hulkbuster from Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" which will come out on Nov. 3. Meanwhile, "The Good Dinosaur's" Spot, "Zootopia's" Judy and Nick, and the legendary Peter Pan are also expected to get figurines from "Disney Infinity's" next installment.

"Disney Infinity 3.0" will be released in console and PC versions in Europe on Aug. 28, while U.S. players can start purchasing the game on Aug. 30.
