Trion Worlds announced that its 2013 science-fiction (sci-fi) game "Defiance" will have an improved version titled "Defiance 2050" that will release this summer for the personal computer (PC), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Moreover, the game studio also announced that it will be holding a closed beta soon and that interested players are encouraged to sign up.

Trion Worlds published the news in an announcement on its official website on Feb. 27. According to Trion Worlds, "Defiance 2050" is a sci-fi online action shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by aliens with advanced technology. PC Gamer reported that the upcoming game is set 20 years after Arkfall, the apocalyptic event that curtailed the war between human beings and aliens called Votans who came here on Earth with the intention of colonizing the planet without knowing humanity exists. Trion Worlds said that just like its predecessor, "Defiance 2050" will allow players to engage in massive cooperative gameplay (co-op) to complete story missions and discover rare weapons and equipment.

The developer also announced that "Defiance" players will be able to take select rewards to "Defiance 2050" via the Valor Program that will give "Defiance" players a way to earn exclusive upgrades and special in-game rewards that will be carried over to "Defiance 2050" once it launches. Moreover, players who earned specific unique titles will be able to transfer them to their new "Defiance 2050" characters. Additionally, account-based upgrades such as loadout slots or character will be carried over as well.

As mentioned earlier, Trion Worlds will be holding a closed beta soon. Interested participants may register at this link to join. "Defiance 2050" will release as a free-to-play game. It will be available in English, French and German languages at launch this summer.
