"Day Z" originally started out as a mod for the popular open-world military simulation game "Arma 2." However, the mod gained plenty of popularity, and due to player demand, it became a standalone zombie simulation game bearing the title, "Day Z."

The standalone game was first released in 2013, and its reach has not waned. One minor challenge that will impact the gamers is the issue with early access. This 2018, "Day Z" will finally be leaving early access and aside from that, the developers are also hoping to transition to different consoles sometime in 2018.

According to Polygon, Bohemia Interactive, Day Z's developers attempted to get the game into its beta stage sometime in 2015, but it did not happen. This time, however, the developers are hoping that their plans will succeed. That being said, a status report regarding the transition was posted onto the "Day Z" official website on Nov. 28.

The status report stated, "2018 is going to be an important year for us in the studio, as our long-term work finally makes its way out there. We sure take our time, but I truly believe that people only remember great games, and not how long it took to make them. I hope that despite the somewhat disappointing nature of this Status Report (regarding not having another major release this year), we still managed to hold on to the support from the most dedicated among you."

It also included details the things that gamers could expect from Day Z shortly. The developers are hoping to release the PC Beta version first before getting it onto the Xbox console.

The updates for the game would not end there. To prove the latter, the developers plan to continue working diligently. They will be using the feedback from the players and things they gathered from the alpha version to improve the game until it is finally completed.

The early access version of "Day Z" is currently available for purchase on Steam.
