AMC finally revealed the first two cast members of the upcoming spin-off series of "The Walking Dead," following the casting news that turned out to be a hoax.
The upcoming spin-off, which is reportedly called "Cobalt," will star actor Frank Dillane who will play the drug-dependent son of the lead characters in the series.
Dillane is famous for playing the role of Tom Riddle in "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince." His parents also happen to be actors themselves. His father, Stephen Dillane, is popular for playing the role of Stannis Baratheon in the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones." His mother, on the other hand, is actress Naomi Wirthner.
The 23-year-old actor will be joined by "Into The Storm" star Alycia Debnam-Carey. The Australian actress will portray the role of Dillane's highly ambitious sister in the spin-off series.
Debnam-Carey used to appear in other TV series, including "Martha's New Coat," "McLeod's Daughters," as well as the Australian documentary series titled "Next Stop Hollywood."
The parents of Dillane and Debnam-Carey in the series, a female guidance counselor and a male teacher, are still being cast.
Earlier, there were reports saying that Craigslist sites in Philadelphia, South Jersey and Allentown posted ads about casting auditions for "The Walking Dead" spin-off series but were taken down because of their questionable details. The ads mentioned that the production is looking for actors between the ages of 13 to 65 to fill the need for extras, as well as several major characters, in the upcoming series. The chosen actors will be paid with $50 per hour for an eight-hour work day, and there will be chances of receiving overtime pay.
AMC has yet to confirm or deny the said ad postings, but fan site The Walking Dead Enthusiasts reported that the casting call was a hoax, and it was released by a talent agency based in Pennsylvania that has been accused of creating fake jobs to get money from applicants.
"The Walking Dead" spin-off will reportedly start production in mid-December, and it will be co-created by Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman.
