Turn-based strategy game "Civilization VI" is getting its first expansion pack on Feb. 8, 2018. Titled "Rise and Fall," the downloadable content (DLC) expansion pack will allow players to expand their kingdom. However, loyalty is imperative to dominate the game.

It appears that a brand new system has been added to the game. For one, if the players lose the loyalty of their in-game subjects, they also run the risk of losing their kingdoms. Moreover, the territories that they captured and integrated into their expanding realm would be at risk as well.

The expansion pack's announcement trailer was uploaded to YouTube on Nov. 28, 2017. The trailer featured the cyclical nature of time and the rise and all fall of the different empires throughout history. It also gave players a glimpse of the game's cinematics and mechanics.

The trailer was not the only source of information for the fans and followers of this epic game. For instance, Anton Strenger, lead designer for "Civilization VI: Rise and Fall," also posted some details regarding the upcoming DLC.

The announcement stated that the game would include more storytelling elements alongside with historical moments. "Civilization V" would then highlight these moments and create turning points in the game. It would then determine whether or not a particular age would be prosperous or not. The events would differ each time — making sure that each player receives a unique playthrough each time around.

Strenger went on to explain that players would be met with both golden ages and dark ages. Moreover, these mechanics would add a little oomph to each game, making them different each time. These periods will bring about in-game changes and would influence the strategies that players will utilize and make use of. Each age would come with its pros and cons, but will open up new opportunities for the gamers.

Golden eras will also increase citizen loyalty, while dark periods will open up the players' city to attacks. It adds a new layer to the game's strategic elements, and because of that, the gameplay is more enhanced, diverse, and dignified.
