April's life will be full of changes once the second season of "Chasing Life" airs next month.

All her life, April Carver (Italia Ricci) believed that careful planning and strict self-discipline will help her become successful. She worked hard to get the job that she had always wanted at The Boston Post. But when she finally got the promotion in the first season of the series, she found out that she has leukemia.

The entire season showed April's battle with cancer along with her struggles at the office as well as in the home front, where her widowed mother Sara (Mary Page Keller) is having problems with her work as a therapist. There's also her younger sister Brenna (Haley Ramm), who is also having a hard time dealing with her father's death, April's disease, and her confused feelings toward her boyfriend Kieran (Augusto Aguilera) and her lesbian classmate Greer (Gracie Dzienny).

Moreover, she found out that her late father has another daughter named Natalie (Jessica Meraz), who is almost as old as she is.

April also has love problems of her own. Her boyfriend Dominic (Richard Brancatisano) broke up with her in the first half of the season and hooked up with Natalie. But at the end of "Chasing Life" season 1, fellow cancer patient Leo (Scott Michael Foster) proposed to her, and she said yes.

For the second season, April will be dealing with the recurrence of her cancer, with losing her job at the Boston Post, and with her engagement to Leo. Will April's plans for her life work this time?

ABC Family released the official synopsis of "Chasing Life" season 2 episode 1 titled "A View from the Ledge," which reads:

Newly engaged and unemployed, April tries to come to terms with her new reality. Always one to think two steps ahead, she decides to no longer plan for her future but just enjoy the moment she is in with a little help from fellow cancer patient Vanessa (Krysta Rodriguez). First up is to plan and enjoy her engagement party! Meanwhile, Natalie stumbles upon a secret manuscript of her father's that could have major repercussions for the entire Carver family."

Will April be able to really embrace a care-free, plan-free life this season?

"Chasing Life" season 2 premieres on Monday, July 6.
