The cast for The CW's "Charmed" reboot continues to expand.

Melonie Diaz is officially on board the upcoming supernatural series, according to TV Line. Diaz has landed the series regular role of Mel, one of the three bewitching sisters. Described as "a passionate, outspoken activist who loses her way in the wake of family tragedy," Mel is a lesbian in her mid-20s who is in a relationship with a detective named Soo Jin.

Diaz is best known for her roles in "Fruitvale Station," "Be Kind Rewind," "The Belko Experiment" and "Itty Bitty Titty Committee." Her TV credits include appearances on "Room 104," "The Breaks," "Ro" and "Person of Interest." She will next be seen in the films "All About Nina," "The First Purge" and "Gringo" — all of which are hitting the big screen this year.

The CW's "Charmed" revival has initially developed in 2017 but was only finalized this year. In the original version, the story was set in the 1970s. Things will be much different this time, though, as the new version will take place in the present day.

The original version of "Charmed" spanned eight seasons on the WB network (now called The CW) from 1998 until 2006. It starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan as three sisters, also known as the Charmed Ones. Together, they use their power to fight against different forces of evil. Aaron Spelling served as the show's producer.

Earlier this month, original cast members Combs and Shannen Doherty criticized the TV network for calling the revival a "feminist" reinvention of the program, seemingly discounting the feminist themes explored in the original.

So far, casting is still underway for the two other lead characters Macy and Madison.

The CW has yet to announce an official release date for the "Charmed" reboot.
