'Castle' season 7 spoilers: Is Beckett leaving Castle in finale episode 'Hollander's Woods'?

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic from ABC's Castle ABC

With only three episodes left before "Castle" season 7 wraps up, more details about the season finale is starting to make the rounds online.

ABC revealed what will happen in the highly anticipated season finale through the episode's official synopsis, which reads:

A death in the woods draws Castle (Nathan Fillion) back to a terrifying and defining event in his childhood. Investigation leads to obsession, as he attempts to unearth answers that have eluded him for decades, all while Beckett (Stana Katic) faces a crossroads of her own."

However, ABC is still mum about the future of the show. "Castle" fans are looking forward to the announcement about an eighth season, and Fillion expressed his interest in reprising his role and recently signed up for some more seasons. But not all of the cast members seem to share the same enthusiasm.

Katic recently divulged in an interview with TV Line that she is contemplating joining the show for season 8.

"For me it's about art over finance, and as long as we're creating something that is compelling and that has somewhere to go, then we're good to go. And when we find that we're not, when we don't have anywhere else to go, then it's time for everyone to pack up and move onto the next thing," the actress said.

Could this mean that Castle will lose Beckett when the series returns after the current season?

Series showrunner David Amman, who is also responsible for writing most of the episodes of the show, also decided to quit from his post. Series creator Andrew Marlowe is reportedly still undecided whether or not he will continue working for "Castle" if it will return.

The final episode of "Castle" season 7 titled "Hollander's Woods" will air on May 11 on ABC.
