'Bones' season 11 spoilers: Crossover plot with 'Sleepy Hollow' season 3

Bones Fox

An unexpected TV crossover is being brewed by FOX geniuses for the network's fall 2015 season, and it will involve the medico-legal lab experts at FBI's Jeffersonian Institute.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed that an episode of "Bones" season 11 will feature the characters of the historical fantasy series "Sleepy Hollow." In turn, the characters of the long-running crime procedural comedy-drama will visit the strange town in New York when "Sleepy Hollow" returns for its third season.

This will be the first time that two separate shows set in entirely different periods will feature a crossover plot. Normally, two shows with entirely similar treatments would feature such crossovers, just like what "NCIS" and "Chicago PD" normally do. This makes the Bones-Sleepy Hollow experimental crossover something to look forward to when the shows return on Oct. 1.

However, there is no available information yet about the planned story details for the crossover. Either Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), the soldier from the 1700s, will work with FBI's Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) to solve a case, or Dr. Brennan (Emily Deschanel) will head over to the mysterious Sleepy Hollow town in New York to help Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) investigate a new crime. But the report claims that both series will have an episode each to feature the said crossover.

It is also reported that FOX initially intended to feature the series crossovers early in the season, but several factors made it impossible to execute the plan. This is why the network will push back the release of the episodes later in the season.

Meanwhile, "Bones" writer Michael Peterson revealed the title of the premiere episode in season 11 early this month via Twitter.

According to Peterson, the first episode of "Bones" season 11 will be called "The Revelation in the Remains."
