NBC renewed its action crime thriller "The Blacklist" as early as February this year, which means that Red (James Spader) and Liz's (Megan Boone) crime-fighting adventures will not conclude by the end of the current season. But how would the season 2 finale affect the trajectory of the show's plot for the upcoming third season?
According to Spoilers Guide, Thursday's finale of "The Blacklist" season 2 will give Liz a glimpse of her suppressed childhood memories and give her some of the answers that she has long been waiting for.
In the season finale Liz realizes she is being framed by The Cabal forcing Red to use his connections to help her clear her name. As Cooper (Harry Lennix) receives shocking news, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) Samar (Mozhan Marno) and Aram (Amir Arison) must decide who on the task force can still be trusted."
If Liz will get her much-needed answers, Tom (Ryan Eggold) will try to find his happy ending with Liz in the next installments of the series. In an interview with Eggold published in the Hollywood Reporter, the actor said that Tom's experience with Liz touched him deeply, and he realized that he wants to live a normal life and have a real relationship to truly care for someone. The actor also shared where he believes the series should go to based on its past seasons.
"The first season and most of the second season has been about questions. ... I think we're getting to a place where we're answering a lot of that, and it feels like the right time to do so," Eggold said.
Also, NBC programming head Robert Greenblatt teased that the finale of season 2 will feature a very unexpected twist, and it will be a game changer for the third season of the series.
The concluding episode of "The Blacklist" season 2 will air on Thursday, May 14, while the release date of the premiere episode for the third season is still unannounced.
