After series writer Tom Schnauz revealed that the production of the second season of AMC's "Better Call Saul" will be up and running in the coming days, more details about the show were revealed.

Lead actor Bob Odenkirk recently sat down with The Wrap to talk about the spin-off show based on his character in the now-concluded "Breaking Bad" series.

Compared to his character Saul Goodman in the original black comedy thriller, who is known for being an experienced, crooked strip mall criminal lawyer, Odenkirk is now portraying a younger version of Saul. This time, Saul is still using his legal name Jimmy McGill, as he struggles to launch his career as a legal practitioner in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Odenkirk said that playing his old "Breaking Bad" character again for "Better Call Saul" gave him the opportunity to portray a role in several levels. He said that Saul's one dimensional, pretentious persona is very different from Jimmy. He also said that he can empathize with the younger version of his character's driven nature.

"I like Jimmy McGill. And I relate to him. I relate to the things that drive him, I relate to his personality. He's kind of unstoppable, he's not going to quit even though he's not getting a lot of positive feedback from the people he loves and the people he cares about and the people he's trying to prove himself to. He's not getting any kind of support, really," the Emmy-winning actor said.

For Odenkirk, the chance that was given to him to play the role of Saul in a very different perspective feels like a "crazy bit of lottery winning."

Meanwhile, the plot for "Better Call Saul" season 2 has yet to be revealed since the writers are still discussing the possible inclusions in the upcoming episodes of the show.

At the moment, fans are still wondering who among the "Breaking Bad" characters will be featured next season, and who among the season 1 characters of "Better Call Saul" will return in season 2.

The second season of AMC's hit spin-off series is currently looking for set extras to fill in the scenes in the episodes of "Better Call Saul" season 2 once production begins after the Fourth of July holiday.
