Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner divorce updates: Actress deliberately delayed filing for divorce to minimize actor's stress, sources claim

While many suspected that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner did not immediately file for divorce because they were having second thoughts about it, it has been learned that Garner deliberately delayed the process as she wanted to minimize the impact of the move on her soon-to-be estranged husband.

After inadvertently fueling the hope of their fans for a reconciliation, there is no more stopping Affleck and Garner from their bid to live separate lives as the two officially filed for divorce last week. According to reports, Affleck and Garner both filed for divorce last April 13, a date the two deemed as the right time to officially kick start the process. It has been learned, though, that Garner only waited for Affleck to finish his alcohol rehabilitation process before filing for divorce as she did not want to overwhelm him with stress.

It can be recalled that Affleck shared on his Facebook account last month that he had finally completed the treatment for his alcohol addiction. While Affleck's move to seek professional help for one of the suspected reasons why his marriage with Garner fell apart is commendable, it is said, though, that it is a little too late as Garner now wants to move forward and date again.

Reports claim that Affleck is not dating someone seriously at this point.

Despite the filing for divorce, though, the two would-be estranged couple maintain an amicable relationship with each other, ensuring that their setup will benefit their three kids: Violet, 11; Seraphina, eight; and Samuel, five.

It was revealed in the past that, despite Affleck and Garner having announced their separation, the two continued to live in the same property in order to give their children normal parenting. However, sources claim that, with the filing of the divorce, it is said that Affleck will move out and find a place of his own that will still make it possible for him to co-parent his kids.
