'Battlefield 5' release news: 'Battlefield 4' sequel to be set in Japan or Vietnam?

Now that "Battlefield 5" has been made official, the interest of fans has shifted to what the upcoming iteration of the much-loved first-person shooter video game franchise will be all about. The attention at the moment is the setting of the game.

Rumor has it that the action and mayhem will be taken to either Japan or Vietnam. If EA and DICE will go for the former, rumor mills point to no particular time period for the setting and it seems that any era would work well.

If the developer and publisher choose to have Vietnam as the backdrop of "Battlefield 5," speculations have it that it will be set during the Vietnam War. Gamepur, however, says the location is an unlikely choice since the war is still a tender memory to the country.

There's also the talk of bringing the warfare into the future, much like the "Call of Duty" titles. While many fans would love to see, fight in and explore the future, as per Christian Post, Gamepur believes that it wouldn't be as exciting as it sounds.

This is because it will be comparable to that of the "Black Ops" installments. Of course, it will be EA and DICE's execution and imagining of a war-laden future that will either make "Battlefield 5" better or worse than "Call of Duty."

"Battlefield 5" is slated for release this year but there are still no details released.

Game analyst Michael Pachter believes that whatever the game will be all about, it will outperform other shooter franchises this year.

"DICE... are clearly learning with whatever mistakes they made... but DICE, I think, will get 'Battlefield 5' right. So, I'm going to call 'Battlefield 5' as the top selling game for 2016," Pachter said on his webshow Pachter Factor.

Pachter added that for this to happen will be "a big stretch" and that DICE is "going to take some real power" to pull that off. Whether or not Pachter was right about "Battlefield 5" being a mega successful hit this year, only time will tell.
