After plenty of hard work, old-school first-person shooter "Battalion 1944" will soon be seeing the light of day. The developers aim to have the game enter the early access stage sometime in February of 2018.

According to PC Gamer, they aim to keep the game in early access for around a year or so before proceeding. Those who wish to contribute to the game's development and help give feedback can participate in the early access after purchasing the game for $15.

While the game is not available for purchase at the moment, a Steam page with more information regarding "Battalion 1944" is currently up and running for eager fans to look at.

According to the synopsis on the game's page, "Battalion 1944" aims to capture the core elements of competitive shooting games. One of its goals is also to refine the old-school first-person shooter genre but work on it so that it lives up to the current generation of games' standards. In "Battalion 1944" teamwork and precision will be key. Players will not make it by merely charging into the scene with their guns blazing. Instead, they will have to rely on their teammates, covering fire, and strategy to progress.

The game will be playable online or through LAN support.

Some of the features mentioned on the Steam page include Fast-paced combat, casual and competitive game modes for players who want to go toe to toe against others and for players who simply want a more relaxing and less fast-paced environment, and a community of people who enjoy FPS games.

Battalion released their early access trailer on Jan. 10. The trailer was uploaded to Bulkhead Entertainment's YouTube channel. Around a little over a minute in length, the trailer gives players a glimpse at what to expect combat and graphics-wise. Several gunfights in different locations were showcased alongside the message that "Battalion 1944" would be a game for people who want to see FPS shooters return to their roots, but also want to experiences updated and refined controls.
