'Avengers: Infinity War' release date, plot spoilers: Runtime points to longest MCU film yet; X-Men crossover not happening soon

Roughly two months before the "Avengers: Infinity War" premiere, what could be its official runtime has been leaked online and it indicates that the team-up film could be the longest entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet.

The "Infinity War" runtime rumor stems from SM Cinema, the largest theatre chain in the Philippines, which launched the presale tickets for the film on Sunday ahead of its April 25 international release. According to the listing shared on Reddit, the movie is set to clock in at two hours and 30 minutes.

While this could be a mere placeholder until the final cut is available, the listed runtime sounds just about right for a film of "Infinity War's" scope. Apart from establishing Thanos (Josh Brolin) as the most powerful villain in the MCU to date, directors Joe and Anthony Russo would have to give the promised 67 characters their own time to shine as well. Plus, Joe already told Collider last July that "Infinity War" would likely end up with a 150-minute runtime or so.

Assuming the listing is accurate, it will make the movie three minutes longer than previous record holder "Captain America: Civil War." The film came in at 147 minutes, followed by "The Avengers" at 143 minutes and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" at 141 minutes.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is poised to become the biggest MCU movie yet. It will feature both the Earth-bound Avengers and space-bound Guardians of the Galaxy on the same screen for the first time. There are rumors that the X-Men might be joining the war against Thanos as well, but "Guardians" director James Gunn recently reiterated that it is not happening anytime soon.

"There is no merge yet between Disney and Fox, it does not exist yet," Gunn said in a Facebook Live Q&A. "Hopefully, it will exist. Hopefully, they will work it out. But, it doesn't exist. You will not see X-Men or anyone else like that in Infinity Wars, Avengers 3 or Avengers 4 because those movies have been shot."

"Avengers: Infinity War" opens in US theaters on May 4.
