'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date in 2016; live-action films premiere in August

 Toho Studios

Eager fans of the mega-hit anime "Attack on Titan" are still waiting for the release date reveal of the series' second season. New developments about the Hajime Isayama-created franchise have surfaced online and while viewers are still waiting for the second season of the anime that will allegedly come out in 2016, fans can still treat themselves with a couple of Attack on Titan live action movies that will come out in the US sometime in August and September this year.

Though there are mixed opinions about the soon-to-be released live action films, most Japanese fans were pleased with the lineup of actors and actresses who will complete the cast. The film will be distributed by Toho studios, and it was directed by Shinji Higuchi. The script was written by season scriptwriter Yūsuke Watanabe, who also wrote for other popular movies like "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" and "20th Century Boys."

The first teaser for the film had been released last month, showing detailed graphics where the gigantic Titans were rampaging around the city of Shinganshina.

The video also provided a brief glimpse of some of the main protagonists of the film, including actor Haruma Miura who portrays the role of lead character Eren Yeager.

Miura will be joined by Kiko Mizuhara as Eren's adopted sister Mikasa, as well as Kanata Hongo as the siblings' long time family friend Armin Arlert. Together, the three will try to protect the city from the vicious Titans that now rule their city.

Meanwhile, GameNGuide reported that Real Escape Game came up with an Attack on Titan-inspired game titled "Escape from the Amusement Park Surrounded by Titans." The new live action game requires players to solve puzzles to find their way out of the stadium.

The live action game is exclusively offered in Japan in the meantime, but it can also reach the US shores as well as other parts of the world just like the "Attack on Titan: Escape from the Walled City" released earlier.
