'Assassin's Creed Identity' release date announced

 Ubisoft

Ubisoft dropped a surprise earlier this month when the game studio revealed in a video trailer that the next "Assassin's Creed" will be called "Assassin's Creed Identity."

The announcement revealed that the iOS-exclusive game centers on a series of quests and story missions happening all over different Italian cities, including the Santa Croce area in Firenze or Roma's Colosseum area.

According to Ubisoft's official blog, the iOS App Store will begin offering "Assassin's Creed Identity" on Feb. 25.

"This action-RPG assigns players the task of solving The Mystery of the Crows through a series of story missions and quests. To complete their mission, players will have to navigate through various cities of the Italian Renaissance – and some of their most famous landmarks – with a variety of control options, including touch-to-move, dual virtual sticks, or with a gamepad," the blog revealed.

The announcement also mentioned that "Assassin's Creed Identity" will allow players to create a new Assassin from one of the four classes, namely the Berserker, the Trickster, the Shadow Blade, and the Thief. Their Assassin will also level up each time the players progress in the game.

The Berserker is known for being an expert in direct combat, while the Trickster is a master of all skills. Meanwhile, the Shadow Blade is more compatible with stealth-oriented players, and the Thief is known for its swift and agile movements, which can be very useful in stealing and laying traps.

To be able to download the "Assassin's Creed Identity," players must have an iPad 3 or later models with at least an iOS 7 or an iPhone 5 or newer models.

"Assassin's Creed Identity" is being developed by "The Settlers" series makers Blue Byte.
