'Arrow' season 5 renewal update: Show to end after fifth run?

Will "Arrow" season 5 mark the end of the series? Bettina Strauss/The CW

Though "Arrow" has received some flak this season because of controversial creative decisions, cast member Willa Holland, who plays Thea Queen/Speedy on the show, believes that they are "not going anywhere" after "Arrow" season 5.

Speaking to an audience at the MCM London Comic Con, the actress said that there are more stories to tell beyond "Arrow" season 5. "Our show is like an onion, every season you open up another layer," Holland said via Mirror.

Colton Haynes will be reprising his role as Roy Harper in "Arrow" season 5. It is unknown if he will be a series regular again, but fans are happy that he will be back again.

Holland quipped that if it was her way, Thea and Roy might take their relationship to the next level. However, at the moment, there's no virtually no information about the nature of the actor's return in "Arrow" season 5.

Viewers have been criticizing "Arrow" ever since it wrote off the Black Canary, the character that the Green Arrow in the comics actually ended up with.

Many fans were outraged by the decision to kill off the character. Fans grumbled on the misuse of such important character in "Arrow" and the direction the show chose involving Katie Cassidy's character.

Viewers then started to tear the show piece by piece. Ahead of "Arrow" season 5, lead star Stephen Amell spoke to Larry King about the backlash the show has been receiving.

"I think Twitter largely is overblown. I'm not saying that these people aren't passionate and I'm not saying that their opinions shouldn't matter, but I do think that their voices tend to be so loud that we think the crowd is much bigger than it actually is," Amell said.

"I happen to think that it's much smaller. Most people still enjoy a show in the traditional way, which is to watch it... and not to tweet constantly throughout it," he continued.

Amell hopes that in "Arrow" season 5, the show will return to its roots, where there are no superpowers or superheroes involved, just the Green Arrow and the team on hand-to-hand combat as they rid Star City of criminals.

"Arrow" season 5 is expected to premiere this fall.
